FAQ

Questions people actually ask

How does booking work?

You send a request (email opens pre-filled from any trip page). We reply within 2–3 days with a concrete plan and a fixed quote. You pay only after everything is confirmed in writing.

What does “driver included” mean?

A local driver with the vehicle for the whole trip — pickup from Tirana, Gjirokastër, or anywhere in the valley, all transfers, and the patience to stop where the view demands it.

How do we pay?

Bank transfer or cash on arrival, as agreed in the confirmation. No prepayment before the plan is fixed.

Is rafting safe for beginners?

The Vjosa has gentle braided stretches and livelier spring water. Certified guides choose the stretch by water level and your group; children are welcome on the calm reaches.

What group sizes do you take?

From two people to a minibus. Homestay nights work best under eight; bigger groups split across neighbouring houses.

When is the best time?

April–June for the river, September–October for food and empty trails, winter for thermal pools and the quiet valley.

What about bad weather?

The river sets the rules. If water levels or rain make rafting unsafe, we don’t go. We’ll offer a dry-land alternative (like the thermal pools or a food trail) or cancel entirely without charging you.

Are the trips suitable for kids?

Yes. The homestays and slow-food trails are perfect for families. For rafting, we stick to the gentler downstream stretches when children are aboard. Let us know their ages when you write.

Do I need my own insurance?

Yes. We provide certified guides and the safest equipment, but standard travel insurance covering outdoor activities is your responsibility.

What is the cancellation policy?

You pay nothing until you arrive, so you lose no money if you cancel. We just ask that you tell us as soon as possible so we can release the homestays and guides.
