Fir of Hotova–Dangëlli National Park: what is sourced, and what circulates

The sourced frame for Hotova–Dangëlli National Park — and the claims we deliberately leave out.

What the official record says

AKT's Përmet page names Hotova–Dangëlli National Park as one of the two national parks associated with Përmet, alongside the Vjosa Wild River National Park declared in 2023.

That is the sourced frame. It matters, because the forested Dangëlli range is what gives the middle Vjosa its second protected landscape, not just its river corridor.

Claims we leave out of the record

Popular write-ups attach precise figures to this forest — a hectare count, a claim about the largest stand of Macedonian fir in the Balkans, a summit elevation for Kokojka. None of those numbers appears in a primary source we can cite, so none appears here.

The same goes for species-by-species wildlife lists. The sourced figure for the valley is the declaration's own: over 1,100 animal species across the river and its surroundings, not an inventory of this one forest.

Why the restraint is the content

A park page that states what is established and names what is not will outlast a page of borrowed figures. When verified material for Hotova–Dangëlli is added to our source record, this note grows with it.

The river corridor's protected status is set out in the sourced numbers; the mountains west of the forest appear in the Nemërçkë note.
