Journal & notebook · definitions before decoration

Sourced field notes for reading the Vjosa Valley carefully.

Long-form journal entries grouped by theme, each built from the source records listed beside it. Where the record is silent, the notes say so — that silence is part of the content.

Short planning definitions

FN-01

Language

Two protected-area names, two different meanings

Vjosa Wild River National Park dates to 2023. UNESCO added the Vjosa Valley Biosphere Reserve in 2025. Neither fact makes Vjosa a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Basis: UNESCO and Albania’s Ministry of TourismRead the connected record →
FN-02

Place

Why begin the conversation in Këlcyrë?

Këlcyrë gives the project a real local center and a way to connect gorge, river, food and valley journeys without pretending every attraction sits in one town.

Basis: Albanian National Tourism AgencyRead the connected record →
FN-03

Access

Bënjë is not a private spa product

The thermal area, bridge and canyon are public destinations. A sellable visit still needs current access, timing, suitability, transport and fallback checks.

Basis: Albanian National Tourism AgencyRead the connected record →
FN-04

Food

A local table needs a real host

Regional food language becomes meaningful only when a specific host, venue, menu, dietary process and price are agreed. Stock imagery is not supplier evidence.

Basis: Vjosa Tours readiness policyRead the connected record →
FN-05

River

“Rafting” is not one stable product

Operator, guide, river section, equipment, age rules, group ability, water conditions, emergency response and cancellation terms all need verification.

Basis: Operator and guide requirementsRead the connected record →
FN-06

Planning

Private should mean designed around the group

The useful questions are not only where you want to go, but how you move, swim, eat, rest and connect to the valley.
